How to Prepare a Combustion Snowblower for the Winter Season ？

Winter is coming slowly but surely. We have certainly all carefully prepared our gardens for the change in temperatures, so this week we can prepare the snowblower - well in advance. After all, who knows - snowfall can surprise us overnight...

You should already have your snowblower cleaned, adjusted and generally ready since the end of last winter, but if you haven't had time to do so, it's essential to check and prepare your snowblower now. This will allow you to find more serious problems that need to be solved by an authorized service center.

For a diesel snowblower such as the HECHT 9661, the primary maintenance step is regular oil changes, which should be done at least once a year. The specific type of oil is specified in the engine manual, ideally it should be a top quality lubricant that can handle even heavy frosts. We recommend HECHT 4T oil for HECHT diesel snowblowers.

If you forgot to let the gasoline out after last winter, replace it now with a new one. If you use standard 95 E5 gasoline, it is recommended that you treat it with the appropriate additives to maintain its properties in the tank for a longer period of time.

Also check and if necessary replace the spark plug, spark plug electrodes should definitely not be black and clogged.

You should also check all cables and drawbars so that you can move all controls easily and effortlessly.

After completing all the previous steps, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes at a slightly increased rpm. If you cannot start the snowblower or the engine does not have enough speed or power, contact an authorized service center.

Also, don't forget to check the condition and air level of your tires.
