If you own a large lawn with trees, shrubs, and landscaping features, have you ever wondered if you can limit the maintenance of such a large area to using only a garden tractor??At first glance, the task seems unrealistic, because a conventional tractor has certain limitations that prevent it from reaching all areas and mowing the grass there.So, are we doomed to do extra work and use equipment such as lawn mowers, brush cutters, and trimmers??Not necessarily.
 
Oleo-Mac is currently adding tractors to its product lineup ZTR.The three-letter abbreviation comes from the English words "Zero Turn Radius," which means that these are machines with a zero turning radius. How is that possible??The entire powertrain—the engine and hydrostatic transmissions—is located at the rear of the machine, practically under the operator's seat.The cutting unit, supported by freely rotating support wheels, is located in front of the operator, giving the operator full control over it.Two independent hydrostatic transmissions, controlled by fold-out levers that are easily accessible from the operator's station, allow for smooth changes in speed and the direction of rotation of the tractor's drive wheels.Thanks to this solution, the axle of the machine passes through the operator's seat, ensuring exceptional maneuverability of the ZTR tractor, allowing for precise maneuvering around trees and shrubs, the ability to position the cutting unit under the spreading branches of ornamental plants, or maneuvering near garden features.
 
Users can choose between two models with identical performance characteristics, differing only in cutting width (108 and 117 cm) and their two-cylinder OHV engines (with maximum power outputs of 19 and 24 KM).The cutting assembly, made of stamped steel sheet, is equipped with two steel blades.Regardless of the cutting width, ZTR machines can operate in side-discharge mode and in mulching mode.Although mowing requires adhering to a schedule based on the growth rate of the grass, it offers a host of benefits for both the operator and the turf being maintained.
 
We would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the conditions for effective use of the shredding mode and the associated benefits.First and foremost, the cut grass must not be wet; in other words, performing this treatment right after it rains will be ineffective. The cutting height should be adjusted so that during a single pass, no more than 1/3 of the grass blades’ height is cut. The blades must always be carefully sharpened so that as much of the blades' torque as possible is used to shred the cut grass rather than to cut it..Operating in mulching mode shortens the time required for the operation, but most importantly, it leaves the green matter where it is produced, serving as a natural fertilizer, and reduces water evaporation from the exposed soil surface, unlike when the cut material is collected in a hopper.
 
Both models are equipped with a wide range of features designed to make working with and performing maintenance on ZTR tractors easier.The 12-liter fuel tank, located under the seat, is designed so that the operator can monitor the fuel level at any time.The fuel filler neck, located on the left side of the machine, is angled to facilitate safe refueling with gasoline.Just above the fuel filler on the tractor, there is a knob that allows for stepless adjustment of the cutting height.Although this system is mechanical, it allows for smooth adjustment of the cutting unit's position.By pressing an easily accessible pedal, the operator raises the entire unit, sets the desired height using the knob, and, by releasing the pedal, positions the cutting unit in the working position.Just behind the knob is a recessed area for the operator's various small items, as well as USB Type-A and Type-C ports, which allow you to charge any devices equipped with these types of connectors.
 
Within the operator’s reach is an easy-to-read control panel featuring a throttle lever, an electromagnetic clutch switch for the blade drive, and an operating-hour counter that makes it easy to perform required maintenance tasks on schedule and on time.Maintenance is made easier by unrestricted access to the engine's service components, such as the engine oil level dipstick, the air filter, and the spark plugs.Access to the cutting unit's power transmission system is facilitated by a cover secured with a convenient knob, located just in front of the operator's seat.No tools are required to access these service points.
