Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter
- Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter - safe, stationary hand splitter for small diameter dry wood. Ideal for quick preparation of firelighters for fireplace, goat, stove, sauna and campfire.
The Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is an innovative, stationary device for manually splitting firewood for fine kindling. It was designed by the renowned Fiskars brand with maximum user safety, high performance and comfort in mind. Allows you to instantly and effortlessly prepare logs for your fireplace, goat, stove, campfire or barbecue, eliminating the need for a traditional axe.
The compact X-Series S splitter is ideal for splitting dry pieces of wood with small diameters - an excellent choice for homeowners, cottage owners, garden saunas, as well as those preparing wood for bio-fireplaces, patio hearths or recreational campfires. Thanks to its fixed, immovable blade and stable frame, the device is much safer than classic chopping methods.
What is the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter and how does it work?
Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is a sturdy vertical hand splitter in the shape of a sturdy metal frame, inside which is placed a specially shaped fixed cutting blade. Unlike a traditional axe, the blade remains stationary and the user only operates the piece of wood, pressing it against the blade. This design minimizes the risk of injury, accidental strikes and tool bounces.
The wood is placed vertically in the center of the frame, on a blade set at the appropriate height. The user then presses down on the block from above (e.g. with another piece of wood, a rubber mallet or just hand pressure), causing it to split evenly into several thinner bristles. The fixed blade splits the wood in a controlled manner, allowing you to get even, aesthetically pleasing pieces of fire starter without the physical effort typical of axe work.
Size S is for smaller pieces of wood, usually up to approx. 80 mm. This is an ideal option for quickly preparing fine kindling from dry logs, strips or leftover firewood left over from cutting larger logs.

Where to mount the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter and how to ensure its stability?
Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is designed for stationary use. This means that it is mounted horizontally - with screws - to a stable, hard surface. It can be:
- a solid wooden work surface in the workshop or garage,
- a carpenter's table or a sturdy bench in the woodshed,
- a thick board or pallet affixed to the floor,
- a massive wooden trunk, box or garden table designed for a permanent wood preparation station.
Mounting to the substrate is done using mounting screws (depending on the kit - they are usually included or you can use commonly available carpenter's screws). Once properly attached, the base of the splitter remains stationary, which translates into safe and comfortable operation. This allows the user to concentrate fully on handling the wood while splitting, rather than on maintaining the tool's balance.
For maximum safety, it is recommended to install a splitter:
- at a height that allows free, upright handling of the wood - usually around hip level,
- on a stable, non-shaky structure, resistant to vibration during operation,
- in a dry, well-lit place, with sufficient space around the stand to deposit the finished logs.
This way of installation makes the Fiskars X-Series S splitter a permanent fixture in the backyard woodshed, garage or workshop - always ready for use, without having to prepare the stand each time.

Use of Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter in home, garden and workshop
Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is used wherever fire is regularly used - in a fireplace, stove, goat, sauna or around a campfire. Designed mainly for dry wood, it allows you to quickly split the logs into small pieces, ideal for quick kindling.
Examples of daily applications:
- Single-family house with fireplace or goat - in a few moments you will prepare thin slabs, thanks to which you will start a fire without using chemical kindling. With just a few moves, several equal blocks can be formed from a single piece of wood.
- Summer house, ROD plot, gazebo - The X-Series S splitter is the ideal solution for quickly preparing wood for a campfire, patio hearth or wood-fired grill. All you have to do is have dry pieces of wood on hand - the rest of the work is done by the safety blade in the frame.
- Garden sauna, balia, freestanding stoves - Wherever reliability in kindling counts, fine kindling prepared with a splitter allows you to get the right temperature in a flash.
- Carpenter's or do-it-yourself workshop - The splitter will prove useful for splitting leftover boards, slats and wood waste into pieces useful as fuel or material for bonfires.
Thanks to its compact size and high efficiency, the Fiskars X-Series S splitter is an invaluable support for both individual users and small guesthouses, holiday homes or agritourism facilities, where fireplaces and outdoor hearths are often kindled.
Key advantages of the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter - safety, convenience and efficiency
When choosing firewood preparation accessories, safety, durability, and ease of use are key considerations. The Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter was developed with just these three pillars of quality in mind.
- Fixed, non-moving blade - unlike axe work, the blade in the splitter is permanently fixed in the frame. The user does not swing a heavy tool, which significantly reduces the risk of injury from missed strikes, tool bounce or slipping hands.
- Stable metal frame - The solid construction keeps the wood in the right position, guiding it precisely to the place of cutting. As a result, each splitting is predictable and the resulting pieces of wood are even and repeatable.
- High splitting capacity - a set of blades and appropriate design geometry ensure very effective separation of wood fibers. With little effort, you can prepare a supply of kindling for days in a short period of time.
- Ergonomics and comfort - the user works in a comfortable standing position, does not need to perform extensive sweeps or repetitive overhead movements. This is ideal for people who want to reduce the burden on the spine and joints, but at the same time appreciate the self-preparation of wood.
- Fiskars brand quality - manufacturer with many years of experience in creating gardening tools and axes guarantees high quality components, precision workmanship and reliability in long-term use.
With these features, the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is the ideal choice for customers who want a combination of safety, durability and convenience with high efficiency for daily firewood work.
Technical features of Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter and user benefits
Although the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is a simple-to-use tool, it hides a well-thought-out technical design. It is what makes fire starter preparation fast, safe and convenient.
- Size S - for small diameter wood
The splitter is optimized to work with small diameter pieces of wood (up to about 80 mm). This makes it ideal for making fine kindling from already cut logs, slats or wood scraps. The customer gains a device that is excellent for everyday domestic use, where kindling is needed for quick kindling. - Precision shaped blade
The blade embedded in the frame is specially contoured to effectively initiate the breakage of wood fibers and guide them further into the material. As a result, splitting occurs smoothly, without jamming, and the user does not have to use excessive force. - Solid steel protective frame
The design of the splitter not only stabilizes the wood, but also creates a kind of protective barrier around the work zone. This prevents the pad from accidentally moving towards the user. This is an important safety advantage, especially for less experienced people. - Possibility of permanent installation
The presence of mounting holes in the base allows the splitter to be permanently fixed to the ground. This provides full stability, while allowing you to create a comfortable, permanent workstation anywhere - in the garage, woodshed, barn or under a shed.
From the customer's point of view, all these parameters translate into a number of practical benefits: shorter wood preparation time, reduced risk of injury, greater comfort at work, and real savings - both in time and money, thanks to self-preparation of firelighters.
Why choose the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter for your fireplace or campfire?
Choosing a Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter is an investment in safety, convenience and reliability for years to come. Compared to a traditional axe, the device offers a number of advantages that any user who prepares wood regularly will appreciate.
- A safer alternative to the axe
Thanks to the fixed blade and the guidance of the wood inside the frame, the typical hazards of axe work disappear: missed strikes, kickbacks, fiber slips or loss of control of a heavy tool. - Ideal for small spaces
The X-Series S splitter does not require a large working space because it does not perform sweeps. All you need is a small countertop and a piece of free space around to prepare a supply of firelighters, even in a cramped garage or woodshed. - Saving time and effort
The high splitting capacity makes it possible to prepare as much kindling in a few minutes as would be obtained in several times as long with traditional methods. The user does not get tired, does not strain joints and muscles, and work becomes almost effortless. - Aesthetically pleasing, even slabs
Wood split by the Fiskars X-Series S splitter has an even, repeatable width. This makes the prepared pieces look nice in the basket by the fireplace, easy to stack and store. - Branded quality and long life
High-quality materials, precise workmanship and Fiskars' experience in manufacturing garden tools guarantee that the splitter will serve reliably for many seasons.
These advantages make the Fiskars X-Series S wood splitter an excellent choice both as the main tool for preparing firelighters at home and as a complement to the toolkit of those who already have classic axes or saws for cutting larger logs.
