- Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051 is the original heavy-duty drive sprocket for Stiga tractors and mowers. Ensures proper 1/2" chain tension, quiet drive operation and long, trouble-free machine life.
Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051 is a high quality drive train component used in Stiga brand garden machines and compatible equipment. Responsible for the proper guidance and tensioning of the drive chain, ensuring smooth, quiet and trouble-free operation of the wheel drive or cutting unit. Precisely made of durable plastic, guarantees long life, abrasion resistance and operation in demanding garden conditions - dust, moisture and changing temperatures.
This is an original replacement with the designation NZ1051, ideal for professional service centers, as well as individual users who care about trouble-free operation of their lawn mower, tractor or other garden machine based on chain drive.
Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051 - what it is and why it is so important?
The chain tensioner sprocket is a special sprocket mounted on the tensioner axle, whose task is to guide and maintain proper tension on the drive chain. Stiga's 125570001/0 NZ1051 uses a tooth profile and dimensions that are matched to standard 1/2" (12.7mm) pitch chains, resulting in a smooth and quiet interaction with the chain, and minimal wear on both components.
Proper chain tension:
- eliminates the risk of chain jumping on sprockets,
- protects bearings, shafts and other drive components from excessive loads,
- ensures stable torque transfer from the engine to the wheels or the cutting blade.
Using a brand-name tensioner pinion, such as Stiga's 125570001/0 NZ1051, is an investment in the reliability of the entire machine - especially important for intensive use, such as in landscaping companies.

Where the Stiga chain tensioner sprocket is mounted 125570001/0 NZ1051 and what it works with?
Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051 is mounted on the axle (or bushing) of the chain tensioner in the drive train. It occurs primarily in:
- stiga garden tractors and ridereachers,
- ride-on mowers and chain-driven machines,
- selected gardening machines of other brands, using compatible components.
Its job is to work with the drive chain - the teeth of the sprocket enter the links of the chain, keeping it aligned and preventing it from slipping off the other sprockets. Installation is simple for a service technician or experienced user: after removing the drive cover, remove the worn sprocket and seat the new one on a clean tensioner axle, taking care to properly align and keep the mating parts clean.
Typical daily application examples:
- replacing a worn sprocket in a Stiga tractor after noticing a noisier drive or skipping chain,
- regeneration of the entire tensioner in the seasonal inspection of equipment to avoid failure at the peak of mowing,
- servicing of a machine used commercially on large greenfield sites, where downtime is extremely costly.

Uses and benefits of using the Stiga NZ1051 tensioner pinion in your gardening machine
Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051 is used wherever the transmission system is based on chain. Replacing a worn-out component with a new one brings a number of tangible benefits to the user:
- Smooth and quiet drive operation - fresh, unworn teeth work perfectly with the chain links, reducing noise and vibration. This is especially important when working long hours, such as mowing large plots of land, because it reduces operator fatigue.
- Reduced wear and tear on the chain and other components - the sprocket with the right tooth profile does not cause excessive friction, so the chain itself, sprockets and bearings work more comfortably and serve longer.
- Occupational safety - Properly tensioned chain means less risk of sudden breakage or fall while mowing. This gives greater safety to the operator and those around the machine.
In practice, tensioner pinion replacement is used:
- prior to the start of the season, as part of a standard service inspection,
- after noticing obvious wear on the teeth (rounding, breakage),
- after mechanical damage caused by blocking of the chain by a stone, stick or other hard object.

Why choose the original Stiga tensioner pinion 125570001/0 NZ1051 - quality, durability, reliability
When you choose the Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051, you are choosing a part specifically designed to work with the brand's machines. This means:
- Perfect fit - there is no need for modifications, bushings or grinding - the sprocket is mounted directly in place of the old element.
- Proven durability - the material used and the geometry of the teeth are the result of the manufacturer's experience in designing parts for garden machinery, which ensures long and trouble-free operation.
- Saving time and money - one correctly selected part means fewer failures, shorter downtime and no need for frequent adjustments to the drive train.
For the individual customer, this simply means working quietly in the garden - without worrying about large lawns being left unfinished in the middle of mowing due to drive failure. For the service company - confidence that the equipment is earning money instead of standing in the service center.
Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051 - practical operating tips
In order to maximize the potential of the NZ1051 tensioner pinion, it is worth following a few simple rules:
- Regular cleaning - remove grass, mud and small stones from the drive area after work is completed. Dirt accelerates the wear of both the sprocket and the chain.
- Chain tension control - Check the chain for excessive slack every few hours of operation. Too much play accelerates tooth wear and increases the risk of skipping.
- Periodic inspections - At least once a season, carefully inspect the sprocket. Visible slipped or sharp, skewed teeth are a signal that it's time for replacement.
Following these recommendations ensures that even with intensive use of the tractor or mower, the drivetrain remains in excellent condition, and replacements of parts are made less frequently and on a scheduled basis, instead of in an emergency mode.
FAQ - frequently asked questions about Stiga chain tensioner sprocket 125570001/0 NZ1051
1. To which machines the Stiga tensioner pinion fits 125570001/0 NZ1051?
The sprocket is designed primarily for Stiga brand garden machines, where the manufacturer has provided a part number 125570001/0 or a replacement NZ1051 / 17-11004. To be sure of compatibility, it is best to compare the part number in the machine manual with the designation on the part or consult a service center.
2. How to recognize that the tensioner pinion is suitable for replacement?
The need for replacement is evidenced by: clearly worn or bent teeth, breakouts, uneven drive operation, loud "shooting" of the chain, as well as visible cracks in the plastic. If the chain skips or has a lot of play, it is worth checking the condition of the tensioner sprocket.
3. Can I replace the sprocket myself?
Yes, in many cases replacement is possible on your own, as long as you have the basic tools and experience in servicing machines. However, always disconnect the ignition / power supply, protect the machine from accidental start-up, and follow the guidelines of the operating instructions. If in doubt, it is recommended to entrust the repair to a professional service provider.
4. Does the tensioner pinion require lubrication?
The sprocket itself, which is made of plastic, most often does not require intensive lubrication - it is more important to properly lubricate the chain itself and the bearings that work with the tensioner. Avoid excess grease, which could attract dust and grass particles.
5. Does this sprocket fit any 1/2 chain"?
The sprocket is suitable for chains with a pitch of 1/2" (12.7 mm), but it is also worth taking into account the width of the chain and the specifications of the manufacturer of the machine when making the selection. Using a chain with different parameters than recommended can shorten the life of both the chain and the sprocket.
6. How to store a spare tensioner sprocket?
The part is best stored in a dry, clean place, away from intense UV radiation and high temperatures. Original packaging provides protection from dust and accidental mechanical damage.
