B&S FUEL VALVE R125112 - reliable control of fuel supply in lawnmowers and garden machines

B&S fuel valve

no. 494768-493960

B&S fuel valve R125112 - what is this part and why is it so important?

B&S FUEL VALVE R125112 is a high-quality fuel system component used in small internal combustion engines, primarily in lawn mowers, garden tractors, tillers, snowblowers and other garden and municipal machines with Briggs & Stratton engines. Its main task is to precise opening and closing of the fuel flow between the tank and the carburetor, which directly affects the safety of use and the life of the engine.

A well-functioning fuel valve allows you to easily cut off the supply of gasoline during machine downtime, transportation, service or winter storage. This reduces the risk of flooding the carburetor, diluting the engine oil with fuel or creating leaks. It is a small but crucial component that protects the engine from costly failures.

Installation of the B&S R125112 fuel valve - where it is used and how it works in the system?

The B&S R125112 fuel valve mounts directly in the fuel line between the tank and the carburetor. Its ferrules are designed to fit the flexible fuel hoses used in small garden engines. Thanks to its compact design, the valve can easily fit into a tight engine compartment and does not require additional handles - it is simply plugged into the rubber cable.

In practice, this valve operates in the positions: OPEN / CLOSED. The clearly visible red lever allows you to change the setting with a flick of the wrist, even when wearing work gloves. This greatly facilitates the daily operation of the machine, as well as the quick shut-off of fuel in emergency situations, such as when there is a leak or the machine needs to be shut down immediately.

Examples of installation sites:

  • fuel line in push mowers with Briggs & Stratton engine,
  • the section of the cable between the tank and the filter/guzzler on garden tractors,
  • fuel system in soilers and scarifiers,
  • fuel systems in generators with a small B&S engine.

In each of these applications, the valve acts as the "main tap" for fuel - it is where you start operating the machine after a prolonged shutdown and where you end up when you're done with it.

Use of B&S R125112 fuel valve in daily machine operation

The B&S R125112 fuel valve is designed for daily, intensive operation under difficult garden conditions. The rugged body and high-performance seals make it ideal for a wide temperature range and continuous contact with gasoline and fuel vapors.

Typical applications in practice:

  • Safe winterization of machinery - before putting the lawnmower or tractor away for the winter, you cut off the fuel supply, burn off the residue in the carburetor and protect the system from stagnation or deposits.
  • Easy service and repair - when changing the fuel filter, carburetor or hoses, simply close the valve to avoid gasoline leakage.
  • Transportation of equipment - when transporting a lawnmower or ripper in a car or on a trailer, a closed fuel valve minimizes the risk of leakage and the unpleasant smell of gasoline.
  • Protection against engine flooding - for longer breaks in operation, the fuel cutoff reduces the risk of gasoline getting into the cylinder and oil, which could result in a costly overhaul.

As a result, the B&S R125112 fuel valve not only increases the comfort of daily use, but most importantly extends the life of the engine and the entire fuel system, which quickly translates into real savings for the equipment owner.

FAQ - frequently asked questions about the B&S R125112 fuel valve

Question 1: For which machines the B&S fuel valve R125112 fits?
The B&S R125112 fuel valve is designed primarily for small Briggs & Stratton engines used in lawn mowers, garden tractors, rotovators, scarifiers, snowblowers and other garden and municipal equipment. The best way to verify is to compare the original numbers 494768-493960 or consult the service manual of the machine.

Question 2: Can I install the R125112 fuel valve myself?
Yes, installation is relatively easy. In most cases, it's enough to disconnect the old component (or cut the fuel line in the right place), slide the line onto the spigots of the new valve and secure with zip ties. However, it is important to remember basic safety rules - work in a well-ventilated area, no open flames and disconnect the spark plug.

Question 3: How often should you use the fuel valve?
It is recommended closing the valve after each completed mowing or machine operation, and especially during prolonged breaks, transportation of the device and during any service work around the fuel system. Regular use of the valve benefits the condition of the carburetor and the entire system.

Question 4: Does the B&S R125112 fuel valve require special maintenance??
The valve does not require complicated operation. Just periodically check that there are no fuel leaks on the spigots or at the lever site, and that the lever movement is smooth.
