Fuel mixture and engine oils

Garden saws and those used in forestry work can be equipped with two-stroke (2T) or four-stroke (4T) internal combustion engines. In two-stroke units, fuel directly enters the space under the piston, where the crank mechanism is located. For proper operation, it must be lubricated, so it is necessary to add the right oil to the fuel to get the right mixture.

Four-stroke engines have a different design. Oil for lubricating the crank mechanism is fed directly from the crankcase, so no other additives are added to the fuel for 4T units.

Two-stroke engine vs. fuel oil

When mixing oil with fuel, remember to keep the correct ratio (1:25-50), which will give your chainsaw engine a long, trouble-free operation. Equally important is the choice of the oil itself. For cutting machines, it is best to rely on mixtures composed with additives recommended by the equipment manufacturer. What oil for four-stroke engines?

If the saw or other cutting machine is equipped with a four-stroke engine, the oil is not mixed with gasoline, but poured directly into the engine. In this case, it is worth betting on a fluid with a sufficiently high viscosity, such as those marked SAE 30, 5W-30 or 10W-30.
